    The difference is explained by the fact that the British CP had been angling for a post-war National Government including Churchill. It hoped that if the Labour Parey gave it a free run in a few seats, it would even get one or two ministries, on the French model. No such luck! Both Tories and Labour were quite happy to do without the CP.
